Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

A free screening of the movie Dr. Strangelove is being hosted by the Savannah River Section of the American Chemical Society. Following the screening, a local expert will discuss the content and answer questions about the science portrayed in the movie. “Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb” is a cult classic directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Peter Sellers and George C. Scott. The movie won four BAFTA awards and Kubrick won best director from the New York Film Critics Circle. This satirical film, set during the cold war, follows the actions of a deranged general who attempts to start a nuclear holocaust and the reactions of the President, his advisors and the Joint Chiefs of Staff as they try to avert the crisis. It also follows the moral crisis of the B-52 bomber crew sent out to deliver their nuclear payload.
