Jailhouse Rock was the third movie for Elvis and first for MGM. He played the part of Vince Everett who was sent to prison after being convicted of manslaughter. When his cellmate, Hank Houghton (Mickey Shaughnessy), a country & western singer, recognized Vince’s singing-talent they make a contract to perform together and share the profit. Once out of jail, Vince tries unsuccessfully to get a job as singer however only after he has help from Peggy van Alden (Judy Tyler) does he achieve success and they start a record company together. Vince seems only interested in fortune and fame until a confrontation with Hank, who doesn’t accept his behavior injures his throat, which puts Vince’s career in danger. After recovering, everyone rallied round to see Vince get his voice back and realize the error of his ways.

Stay around after the movie to see and hear Jason Sikes, renowned Elvis impersonator. Jason was raised in Gloverville, South Carolina. He grew up on Elvis and as far back as kindergarten Jason was "doing" Elvis routines on picnic tables during recess. He started singing in 1998 at a wedding reception, entered and won an Elvis contest in 1998 and has been a Memphis world finalist every year since! Jason has appeared on MTV, local radio stations in Augusta, TV commercials; numerous newspaper articles and interviews, performed at many large venues and has been the opening act for the Marshall Tucker Band, Joe Diffie, and .38 Special. Jason's Elvis show is very authentic and full of the same energy that Elvis brought to his own performances.

You are encouraged to dress in your favorite 50s attire or Elvis look alike and walk the red carpet as you enter the Imperial Theatre.

Tickets for this event, available through the Imperial Theatre box office (706-722-8341) or on line (www.imperialtheatre.com) are $10 each.  A limited number of Golden Horseshoe tickets are available for $15. The ticket price includes the screening at the Imperial and a mini concert by Jason Sikes, famed Elvis impersonator. Doors to the Imperial Theatre open at 6:00 p. m. and the movie begins at 7:00 p. m.
