Based on Puccini’s ‘La Boheme’, ‘Rent’ is a 2005 American musical drama film directed by Chris Columbus. It is adapted from the critically acclaimed and Tony award winning Broadway Musical. The film depicts the lives of several Bohemians and their struggles with sexuality, drugs, paying their rent and life under the shadows of AIDS. It takes place is the East Village of New York City from 1989 to 1990. Shows how much changes or doesn’t change in the 525,600 minutes that make up a year.
